Gravity

It is amazing how a a single word (or lack thereof) from one person can make or break your day, whether they realize it or not. It shouldn't matter, but it does. One person should never have SO much power.

I wish I could break free, but more than that, I wish I didn't have to, and I have prayed about it so often. I try to push forward, but the pull of your gravity is almost as strong as that which holds the universe together.

I used to be your best friend and side kick, and now instead, I feel like I've been abruptly kicked to the side; it breaks my heart and confuses me so much. I know it isn't my fault because I haven't done anything but be a good friend, but I always internalize blame, which makes things more difficult to deal with.

I knew things would be a little different, but I didn't expect them to be THIS different.
I know this sounds whiney and emotional, and others have bigger problems, but I miss my best friend so much.

Time for Five on Friday!

So my life has been a whirlwind lately, but I'm back!

one-My NEW job!!!
So, in an earlier post, I mentioned that I had some big news...well, I am the new chorus teacher at Mountain View Intermediate school!  I am so hyped up, nervous, scared, excited and basically just a roller coaster of emotions!  Mostly, I'm just grateful that God granted me the opportunity to try out teaching! I believe that I will be great!

two-old job
I have one week left as the Group Sales/Catering Director for the Boiler Room...a part of me will miss this job and MOST of the people I worked with...but seriously...I'm ready to be done.  Time to start a new chapter in life!
three-Pentatonix
I got to see this band at the Tabernacle in Atlanta on Wednesday and they are my new favorite!!! They do original songs and popular music covers entirely a capella.  And the bass singer has an extremely sexy, deep voice...that helps (he's in the far left corner)! ;)  Watch this video of one of their latest covers:

four-old navy cardigan
I'm working on getting more "teacher clothes" and Old Navy was having a great sale! I ordered this one and a black one! New clothes are always great!

five-girls weekend
Next weekend, after my last day of work (which will probably consist of two hours saying goodbyes and not much else), I'm headed to Hickory to see my two very best friends from college.  Words can't come close to describing how much I miss them! So excited for a fun weekend with them!

Weekend Shenanigans: Busy busy busy

So, I've been really really bad about not posting...but I've been SO busy.  It was like a week of Mondays last week.  I had two job interviews (which I will post more about when the results are officially official), three concerts over the weekend and I started watching The Walking Dead (umm ADDICTING)!

Sami's Shenanigans

Friday:
But about my weekend...it was super amazing! Friday morning I had an interview at a school and got some AMAZING news about an hour and a half later!  Then I had to work, but after work, me and a few girlfriends had front row tickets to see Francesca Battistelli.  She just so happens to be my favorite Christian artist and I got to meet her which was SO amazing!

Umm can you tell that I was excited?! And she told me she liked my dress! (Sorry for fangirling).

Bri, Lexi, Steph and Me...front row seats, baby!!!

Francesca was amazing! If you haven't listened to her, you should!!!

Saturday:
Saturday I spent the day at home for the most part and then had a ticket to go see Jars of Clay with some random guy I had never met in my life.  His mother had rehearsal so she gave me her ticket...can anyone say "set up?"  Frustrating AND awkward, but nevertheless the concert was super awesome and I got to meet them too!!!

EPIC mustache and super talented!

Sunday:
My parents group had to go sing at this little bitty church out in the middle of nowhere, so I decided to go with them (Homecoming=delicious food).  After that, one of my friends from Overlook invited me and a couple of friends to his church where they were putting on a concert.  It was called As Time Goes By and was a collection of broadway songs about life, love, and the passage of time.  Lots of talented people; I was impressed!

Can't wait to share my good news with you! Hopefully I'll have a little more time to blog this week!!!

Weekend Shenanigans: Impossible Things are Happening Every Day!

So, this weekend, and the past couple of weekends for that matter, have been consumed with Cinderella! We opened on Thursday and guess who was getting sick? Me!  Not good at all!
So, anyway, I spend Thursday on vocal rest...no talking until show time! The show went great!
Friday, I was still feeling bad, but thought I was a little better, so I spent the day in partial vocal rest, downing Throat Coat and Emergen-C like nobody's business!
Saturday Morning, I woke up with no voice! Thank goodness for Prednisone, Z-pac and tons of prayers!!!
My voice returned and I was good to go Saturday and Sunday!
I'm still a little congested, but overall today hasn't been too bad! And now for a few pictures from the weekend!!!

 1. Me, My Parents and the Prince
2.  Bored at work on Friday--Duck Dynasty lover for sure.
3.  Opening night gift from our stage manager, Amanda! "Break a Leg, Have a Ball, Be Smart, Don't Suck"
4.  Me and my stepsister/best friend, Rachel
5.  Two of my favorite fellas...Timothy made a foam finger that says "Cinderella #1" on one side and "Go Prince Chris" on the other...so special... :D
6.  Mine and Heather's traditional show picture...love this one!

My favorite picture from the show, with my favorite diva girl!!!

 Dancing at the ball!

Right after the transformation! SO cool!

There are no words for this face!!!

What a magical, wonderful, scary weekend! So thankful for all the prayers sent up and so glad I'm almost better!

5 On Friday

Yay! This is my first 5 on Friday link up! I think it looks super fun, so I thought I'd try it.

1.  Big Sexy Hair Spray

Good grief, this stuff will hold your hair during a category 5! It has kept my chignon in tip top shape every night of dress rehearsal and last night during the show! Let's hope it keeps it up!

And for 17.95, you really can't beat it!

2.  Let's Stay Together

This song has been on repeat lately! Don't know what it is about it, but seriously...so good.

3. Organic Throat Coat Herbal Tea

For my overtired voice and my body that is trying to get sick during a show, this stuff has been a MAJOR lifesaver!  Thank you, Traditional Medicinals! Click here to get your own, or if you're in Franklin, visit
Room Full of Nuts, my favorite health food store in town!

4. Warm Days

I LOVE summer.  That is all.

5.  When People Do Nice Things

When people do things for you without you having to ask, I am reminded that despite what is being flashed all over the media, there are still good people in the world!  And I have amazing friends and family!

Happy Friday!

The Woman You Are Today

So, I saw this pin on Pinterest today, and it really made me think.  "Would the girl you were yesterday admire the woman you are today? If not, adjust for desired results."
Wow...that's some pretty heavy stuff.

I look back on my "yesterday" and there are DEFINITELY some things I'm not proud of.  However, those things I am not proud of have defined the adjustments that I wish to make in my life.
I am not perfect by any means, but I feel as though I am becoming more like the woman I desire to be.
Over the past year and a half, I've worked really hard to "adjust for desired results."
I'm still Abigail, but in many ways I have grown; I am different, and I think the old me would be happy to see the differences in the new me.

I haven't made these changes alone, that's for sure!  I've had lots of support from friends, family, and people I look up to.  I've also had many prayers sent up for me.  I know that prayer works, because without it, I wouldn't be where I am.  This being said, don't stop praying friends, because goodness knows, I still have a LONG way to go!

I am learning to be happy with myself.

I'm finally chasing my dream of becoming an educator.

And I'm just trying to be more happy in general.
My problems are minuscule compared to others!

Abigail

Relay Weekend

This weekend was all about Relay for Life!
For as long as I can remember, I've always been involved in Relay, but not as much as I was this year.
I got the opportunity to be on the committee this year and it was a really good experience for me!
Friday after work was spent setting up.  Then after that, I got a short repose and ate really yummy Little Caesar's Pizza and watched Revolutionary Road with Bekah, which, by the way, is an amazing movie (and it has Leonardo DiCaprio in it which is ALWAYS nice)!
Saturday morning I got up bright and early and helped finish setting up, and from 10:00 til 10:00 had a great time with good friends.  Our chairperson kissed a pig, I ate a lot of good food, and walked it off!
The Luminary service brought tears to my eyes.  Cancer is such a real thing and affects everyone in some way!  So thankful for a great turnout and all the hard work that everyone put in to make this Relay for Life a successful one!
And now back to work...oh rainy, unproductive Mondays.

Friday Letters get real, real quick.

Today I'm linking up with Ashley @ The Sweet Season for some real Friday letters!

Photobucket

dear friday:
I'm thankful you're here.  You have no idea.

dear Relay for Life:
I'm so excited for you tomorrow and I know we're going to make a big difference in the fight against cancer!

dear funk i've been in lately:
Go away...you're ruining my mood.  I have so much going for me right now.  I have job interviews on the horizon, I've been praying about a mission trip, Cinderella at the end of this month, and some of the best friends and family ever!

dear person that i can't write about in detail:
You drive me crazy...and I love every minute of it.  You're one of my best friends.  You make me laugh all the time and I love spending time with you.  Except sometimes, I'm very afraid you're like my kryptonite.

dear married/engaged friends:
I have to admit I'm jealous of you when I read/hear about your wonderful relationships and wedding plans...but at the same time I like being single.  What to do?! Nothing, I guess.

dear teaching job:
I want and need you!  I would love some prayers for my interview on Wednesday at 10:45.  Thanks in advance!

xoxo,
Abigail

Friday's Letters!

Linking up with Ashley today for one of my favorite link-ups, Friday's Letters!

Photobucket

dear blog:
I'm sorry if you're feeling neglected; my new job is a lot more demanding and I just don't have as much spare time on my hands.  It's not you, it's me...

dear rodger's and hammerstein's cinderella:
Can I just say that I am super excited to be playing Cinderella again! Being a princess is a legit, life goal...right?  Right???

dear friday:
I am so glad to see you; you come and go far too quickly.  Hang around for a little while today!

dear saturday:
I am extremely excited for your arrival; I am going shopping, shopping, shopping with my best friend Bekah Talley.  After shopping, we are seeing the Great Gatsby (which is another letter all in itself) and then pigging out at Mama G's for my birfday (which is Monday).

dear future dresses i will be purchasing:
You dresses will look great for all of the fun weddings this season!

dear life:
You're good right now...really good, and I'm grateful, so very grateful.

dear great gatsby movie:
asdfliisdflkjasdfjadsdffda!!! That is me being super excited about seeing you and deciphering all of your symbolism and ties with today's American society.  It's going to be amazing...and Leo of course...always a plus! ;)

and lastly

dear 23rd birthday:
What the heck?! I'm turning 23 on the 20th...that's scary and exciting...just hoping that my 23rd year of living is better than my 22nd (not that 22 was all bad...just a whole lot of difficult).  And 23 will be better I think!
That's all for today!

Abigail

Throw Back Thursday...the 90s, people, were the greatest!

So I didn't really have time to write anything too creative today, but I did find this little gem.

Finally...Friday!

It is finally Friday! I am so happy to see this day! It has been a ridiculously long and busy week!

I have a new responsibility added onto my job; I'm now doing a lot of the bookings/group sales for the Boiler Room! This got popped on me a couple of weeks ago, and with a lot of help, I am staying above water and actually doing a good job! It's tough, but it's fun and I get to work with people.  However, I don't have a lot of downtime at work anymore, so I don't have as much time to blog! Hopefully, though, once I get in the swing of things, I'll be a little more efficient and have a little more time!

I'm also two weeks single and loving every minute of it...It's a little hard to adjust, but I'm almost used to it (and I get a whole lot more sleep)!

Last night was opening night of Annie Get Your Gun, and it went great! Three more chances to see Samuel throw knives at me...don't worry, he's been practicing since March! ;)  And here are a few pictures; such a fun show!

There's No Business Like Show Business

Me as Winnie Tate

I'll Share it All with You!

"Butler and Oakley...has to be in alphabetical order; an old show business rule!"

So that is what's going on in the life of me! Come see Annie Get Your Gun! You'll love it!

Oh How Pinteresting...on a theme of Vintage Dresses

I love vintage dresses...and I have found some gorgeous ones that I would love to have in my closet...and wear on a regular basis, regardless of the funny looks I might get!

This weekend...

This weekend I really didn't do a ton and I was completely okay with that!
Friday I bought a new pair of sunglasses...for $4.  I can't buy expensive sunglasses because I lose them too quickly.

Then I went to Sylva with Rachel!
We ate pizza at Speedy's which I feel like I haven't had since before graduation.
The veggie pizza is so good!
(And I introduced Rachel to the Add-a-Kitty app on my phone)

After dinner we went to go see The Host; it wasn't a cinematic epic, but it was good...weird, but good!

Saturday I had a wedding shower to attend.  It was a breakfast shower and all of the food was delicious.  Fooooood.  Breakfast...love!

Sunday after church, I hung out with my Bekah...we just had fun, single girl time! And of course,
Sweet Brown was involved!

Overall, it was a great weekend full of fun little moments!

Love, Abigail

Friday Letters

dear kurt & max schneider, lindsey stirling, and aimee proal:
I love your covers and mash-ups better than the original songs most of the time!
dear Easter egg hunt:
Helping the Easter Bunny hide 18000+ eggs this morning in 23 degree weather was totally worth it when I saw how much fun the kids were having!
dear new dresses:
I wish I could pick between the two of you for this Sunday! Ivory lace vs. blush chiffon...they're both so Easter-y!
dear saturday:
I'm sleeping through party of you, most likely.  Just sayin...
dear JESUS:
Thank you for your death years ago, so that I could live with you for eternity! That's what this weekend is all about!  So thankful!

Throwback Thursday: College Friends

Today I'm joining my lovely friends Jennifer and Julia for Throwback Thursday!!!

Now that I have a little bit of time to write *YAY* I'm going to talk about my wonderful years at WCU with  my little group of best friends.  I miss them more than anything and we all live miles away from each other!

App-WCU game 2012

El Pac after the App WCU game this year

Pre-App Western Game at Julie's House

Me, Brooke, and Carmen all met in piano studio (because we're all super awesome classical pianists) and our piano teacher gave our little threesome several nicknames because we were always together! Andrew's Angels, ABC's, you get the picture...ABC's stuck, by the way. When Julie joined our crew it was ABC + J. Haha...But anyway...The following are snapshots from our wonderful times we had together!

Fall Semester, Senior Year--Football Game
(Brooke, Carmen, and Me)

One of many piano recitals; ignore the weird glowy eyes.
(Brooke, Dr. Adams, Me, Carmen and Julie)

Every week we would have what we called "Piano Coffee" time; we would always find time for this, regardless of our busy schedules.  This was usually at Starbucks and we would just sit and talk about everything.  I probably miss this more than anything!

Piano Coffee time outside (2010, I think)

Julie always had the most fun themed parties at her house...this was probably my absolute favorite:

Tacky Christmas Sweater Party 2011...Need I say more?!

If I look at anymore pictures, I'm going to start crying, so I'm just going to say that Brooke and Carmen are getting married within the next year (Carmen in October of this year and Brookie in March of next year), and I get to be in both of their weddings; I am SO excited for that (Bachelorette fun abounds)! They'll obviously be in mine, if I EVER decide to get married, but who knows when that will be!
If you girls read this, I love and miss ya'll and I can't wait to see you sometime this summer!

And okay...one more picture and maybe a cheesy friendship quote...

"I couldn't tell you why we're best friends, because you wouldn't understand. The
explanation is full of too many inside jokes and made up words. It's full of
too much care and too many tears, too many laughs, and too many blonde moments.
I don't think I will ever be able to give you a better reason, except they've
always been there." ~Unknown
